Audio mixing.

I filmed a scene with one channel on right channel EXT and the other on left channel INT. I want to use the left INT channel in the edit. How do I adjust balance and bring out the left channel audio on both speakers and supress the right channel audio?

You have a stereo file with two channels. You have to export it and open it in something else, like Audacity, which will allow you to split the channels. You then create a stereo track by duplicating whichever one you want for that file, after deleting the other one, and export again. Or just delete one channel at a time and export a mono file, but I usually go stereo.

Do you want to get rid of the right channel all together? Simply apply the Fill Right filter to your audio track.

I filmed a scene using the external microphone on left channel and the internat microphone on right channel. Now that the projet is in Premiere CS3, I would like to drop the right channel and replace it with the left channel so as to have the left channel audio on both left and right. How do I do that? If it can not be done in Premiere, how do I go about using another software program to do that and get the element back on the timeline? Finally, what external software should I use? Is Cubase good enough? Thank you.

Thanks for that! Just made the jump from FCP to Premiere Pro and was getting frustrated not knowing how to do that.

It sounds backwards but actually its Fill Left in your case.
The Fill Left effect duplicates the left channel information of the audio clip and places it in the right channel, discarding the original clip’s right channel information. The Fill Right effect duplicates the right channel information and places it in the left channel, discarding the existing left channel information. Apply to stereo audio clips only.

There is no way to do anything audio related in Premiere?

Yes, you can make mono versions of a stereo clip.

Select the stereo audio file in the project window, and:

Clip->Audio Options->Breakout to Mono

This will produce two new clips in the project window, for left and right channels respectively.
