Audio Meters on Capture?

Background: Brand new to Edius Broadcast v4.13. We're currently capturing Composite with analog audio coming from DVCPro and Beta decks. I have no idea what capture card we're using but will find out if necessary.

My question:

When you edit, you can hit Ctrl+G and see your timecode and audio meters displayed on your source/record monitors. Can you see this when you capture? It doesn't seem like you can monitor the audio level coming into the system--you just have to watch it coming from the deck and hope it's right when it goes in.

If it's possible to pull some audio meters up (I don't care about monitoring timecode), would someone be kind enough to let me know how? Thanks in advance.

Michael.

It's supposed to show you the timecode and levels. Granted it was a long time ago, but it worked the last time I checked on the SP hardware with analog input and RS-422 timecode...

Hey Brandon. I was beginning to think all you guys were on vacation.
Its been like the Maytag man around here for the last week.
Welcome back.
When is the Canopus Forum going to be back up.

Have a Good Day

I also recall seeing a (commercial but inexpensive) plugin for Edius in the Canopus forums in the Marketplace section that provided a VU meter. I can't find it on the 'net at the moment, and I don't know if it works during capture, but who knows, it might.

VU Meters on capture

Thanks for the replies.

I just talked to a guy familiar with Edius, and he said he didn't think VU meters were there on capture. I sure can't figure out how to see them if they are! I'll search the net for that plug-in. Would be mighty handy to have, to say the least. Thanks again for the replies.

I'm extremely busy with NAB preparations.

The Canopus forum won't be back up, but there will be a new Grass Valley forum with EDIUS-centric discussion. Coming ... so..on..

hmmm..extremly busy sounds like there will happen great things..is that true Brandon?

Make us dream a little and give us some preview (undercover here..!), despite the fixes, also some big Audio-changes i hope!??

Remember that I'm not in engineering. My busy is system staging, equipment collection, technical review, etc for the NAB tradeshow itself.

Naahh Brandon,

I knew you would answer like this...of course you are not an engenieer, but of course you know whats new and around the corner...but i see that i will have to wait until NAB to get news like anyone else...NOT..maybe?!

Well, technically I am an engineer, but that's just not my role here (though my title still has Engineer in it). :)

There will be some good stuff there, trust me.

Brandon

Yipiiiee..thats the word of the non engineering engineer..!

Ill be patient and wait, but i still feel this crazy thing like years ago as a child, when they released some new stuff for Sega and Nintendo, i am sure that im hooked up on this, and thats why i still have to follow the new stuff...cant resist...well sometimes i can...didnt install Edius 4.22....nah...!

Good luck for all that Brandon..!

I have learned through my life that lowering your expectations, or having no expectations at all, yields the most pleasurable end result.
