Audio Levels standard?

Is there a standard for what you want your audio levels to maintain during normal conversations? I was wondering because I've seen shows/movies where you had to adjust the volume on your tv for various scenes. I was hoping there was a standard guideline so I could watch the level meter and make sure I keep consistent.

Right around -12db. It can go either way a bit without trouble, keep the peaks under 0db.

i keep mine at -6db, sounds great on tv and no troubles.

For me it depends somewhat on the intensity of the dialog; ranging somewhere between -12 and -6db.
