Audio lag in final output, absolutely fine in timeline, not consistent.

I've had this problem before but this happened so badly, I want to know if there's a solution.

I put together a bunch of timelapses and scenic shots over a song. Super simple. I've got a LOT of cuts to the music so it's pretty irritating.

On first output, the audio lags the video by 36 frames. I know this because I re-imported the video, layed it over my timeline and looked at the difference in the wave displays.

I output it again but with the music in the timeline offset by 36 frames. On the second output the audio was only out of sync by one frame.......almost identical to my timeline now.......which of course now is incorrect because it was offset to correct the problem. Only this time there was no problem, the audio and video were rendered faithfully to the timing in the timeline.

What gives? Exact same output settings on both renders. Windows media video and audio codecs in a 23.976 timeline.

any chance your videos are in .m2ts or mpeg2 format? I have never met any audio lag problem thus far, but a quick google shows that there are potential "bug" which Premiere doesn't like the formats mentioned.

the last time audio lag happened to me was yeeeeeeears ago but it was not with Premiere. And that was because the PC used to edit and render was too slow, so when viewed in faster computers the audio lagged (because the video loads faster while audio remain).

Definitely not m2ts files, this time.

I've been using premiere pro in different incarnations for the last 5 years and have done many many edits with very specific audio/cut syncs and have seen this problem forever.......from everything to old .avi files to P2 to .mov to (also) AVCHD files. I might notice this more than most because I do edit to music but it's a bit of an ongoing problem.

After this little particular instance, I ran two more rips. One was off, and without changing a single setting, the second one was spot on (or close enough that it's indecipherable). I have no idea why this happens.

I am having similar problem using Canon MXF, on the timeline the audio is within sync, but once exported I see that is lagging behind by several frames. I does not happen when I use Canon AVCHD.

Some update:

I have found the following entry in an Adobe forum, I will give it a try.

Re: Audiosync problem Canon XF100 I think I found a solution.
Propably the audio problem is caused by importing the files during the conforming proces.
When you delete the *.cfa and the *.pek files on the harddisk in the place where the original files are stored the audio will become oke.
I just tried it with some files.

Kind regards
