Audio Kit suggestions...

Hey guys, I looked through some other topics and I couldnt really find anything that tailored to what Im really asking here. I need to buy a complete professional audio kit and I need help.

I have about $2000 to spend on my audio setup.

I need a mixer, a good boom, with fish poles and wind protection as well, and I'd like to get a couple of good Lavs if thats possible as well.

Do you think thats possible?

I really like the simplicity of the Sound Devices 302 mixer when I used it but its a bit pricey and doesnt leave much in my budget.

I havent used the budget Mics so I don't know whats good.

I appreciate any help guys.

Thanks

Hey, don't take this the wrong way but if you did an appropriate search like you said you'd have found all the answers you seek. I know it's easier just to ask...

First, check out the stickies in the Audio thread (yellow colored) and New To Audio - there you get exactly what you seek!

2k is a pretty decent budget for sound. But it is hard to help you out without knowing what you will be using all the sound for. Because it changes things. A movie? Corporate stuff? Interviews? Docu's? Primarily indoor or outdoor? All that is important to know before suggesting things.

I would hold back on the SD 302 mixer esp since you seem very new to Sound. Plenty of of vital things to get before even thinking of a mixer imo. So budget that towards the end, and at 1.4 grand heh - out of 2k - it probably will be unfeasible for a "complete professional kit" at that price range.

Sorry I failed to specify. I will be using it mostly for independent films with the possibility of a few documentaries if need be. It will probably be a decent mix of both indoor and outdoor.

I am pretty new to sound, I've only messed with the equipment a few times and the equipment I used was well out of my price range anyway (Deva V with a Cooper Mixer).

I'll dig a little deeper and see if I can find some more info here as well.
