Audio In post

Hey, I'm having a bit of trouble with a clicking sound in between cuts.

For example i'll have a close up of character one followed by a close up of character twos response, audio on seperate tracks for the characters because one is usually louder than the other, than I turn them up a bit , one being turned up slighter greater than the silent one. Advice on how to remedy this click? I've tried putting room tone in between with a constant gain transition, it helped a bit, still clicky though.

You need to fade the audio in and out... even a very short fade (1 frame) will eliminate pops and clicks.

If you have sample-accurate editing available to you, make sure audio clips begin and end on 0-transitions to avoid clicks!

Is there an actual spike/wave you're seeing? Does it represent a recorded click or is it a playback artifact?

If there's a recorded spike, find each click/spike and attenuate each or cut them out and paste in room tone copied from the section near it. You might need to do a slight crossfade on these cuts.

Sounds like your doing the picture edit. If someone is going to do post then put fades where it really bugs you and let post to the fine tuning. If your it then short fades are the solution probably (I'm basing this on your "at the cuts" comment. The usual audio post method is 1/4 frame fade in and out happening before and after the cut. ie you're going to 1/2 frame overlap from the start of track ones fade in to the end of track twos fade out. If you don't overlap you will end up with little holes all over the place which will be almost as bad as the pops.
