Tryin to teach myself after effects. I'm attempting to match some text on screen to someone saying their name. But for some reason i'm getting no audio. Anyone have a clue why i wouldn't be getting any audio? I'm sure its not muted, but i'm not showing any levels when i click the audio tab. Anyone got any ideas?

ye, do not use the play button to play back the footage, but next to in the right, you will find a playback with sound button. (num 0 may give the same result as that button)

Hey my first post here a tip about working with audio I have picked up.

Select the layer with the audio press the "L" key twice this opens up the wave form
press the "." on the number pad this does a ram preview of the audio only. When you find the spot that you want to sync go under layer / add marker this will let you add a comment that will show up on the layer like this.

Ok its previewing with audio now, but when i render i still get no audio in the finished rendered version. Whats up with that?!

also for standard 4:3 viewing what setup do u use for your composition? I'm using the preset ntsc dv, 720x480, but then i take off the "lock aspect ratio to 3:2" and i use pixel ratio d1/dv ntsc (0.9) my clips are still slightly WIDER than the originals were. But they are not as wide as they were under the normal ntsc dv preset...

In the render settings, make sure you turn the audio on and set it to 48khz. If you aren't sure what I mean, when you add a file to the render queue, click the link for the "output module" and set up your audio there.

? Do you want a DV or D1 sized comp? Dv is 720x480, D1 is 720x486. AE figures out all the aspect ratio stuff for you if you set the comp up properly.
