Audio import problem! stereo as mono

FCP won't recognize a VHS tape sent through firewire on a miniDV/VHS deck as stereo. FCP reads it in as stereo as the meter indicates, but then saves it to a file as mono. I've no idea why, and it's extremely frustrating. Anybody know???

You're using Capture Now I assume right? In the log and capture window, on the Clip Settings tab, have you set that to Stereo? Cause even if FCP reads the fact that the source footage is stereo, YOU have tell FCP what you want for the digitize setting, Mono or Stereo, regardless of what the source might be.

Thanks. I didn't realize there was a place to select Stereo capture but I found it, and it now works.
