Audio from PP2.0 into Audtion

I learned a few things from a friend of mine who edits non-professionally. When he loads and saves clips he saves all takes together. (example: I may have 3 takes of the same scene and angle on one clip). He takes that one clip (w/ 3 takes) and puts it on the time line and shortens (drags the left and right margins together) to realize the clip to get what he wants (not using the razor tool). When you take a clip like this and export it to audition to work on it from a sequence I assume all 3 takes will transfer over and make it difficult to find and isolate that once section you are looking for b/c you have to find it among the three takes after you find which section of a particular take you used. Is there a way to move only a section of that clip to audition, or should one go back and razor cut all their clips to shorten them and get rid of the excess footage?

thx

Research

I've been researching and still no clue.

I know how to edit in auditon audio from a vid clip, but is there a way to only import the portion of audio you used in the sequence/timeline, opposed to importing the whole clip (audio/video)?

If not, what is the quickest way to find section of audio you are using in the clip/track when you open it in audition? The timeline code (clocker, time readout, hour/min/sec/frame, the name slips me) is in unison with where it appears in the sequence, and on the tape it was captured from, but I don't know of a way to find a readout/clocker that will help me identify where the audio in the sequence/timeline is located in the orig clip in the project panel. =(

Any suggestions?

Thank you!

The way that I do it is…

I layout my edit and get it pretty well tweaked, titles, graphics, color correction, and every thing that has to do with timing and video. Then I right click on one of the audio clip in the timeline and select Edit in Adobe Audition. Then I switch over to Audition and edit the clips and hit save. Then without quitting audition I switch over to premiere and it automatically updates the audio in the timeline. Then I go on to the next clip in the timeline.

What I wished it would do is allow me to import my timeline of the audio so I can mix the audio there and edit it too.

One of the last things I do to get really good levels. Do hard limiting, use the presets -.3 or -.1. I use the -.1 when ever I’m not going to be mixing in any background noise or music.
