Just wondering-newbe to fcp. I converted all my mp3 files to aac(thinking that this was mac format right), well fcp will not even read aac files. it wants aiff files and they are huge. I used mp3's but it wants to always render them and they have glitches in them. What is the best file format to use like mp3?

I usually use AIFF but FCP can also use Wav files.
No matter what format (including mP3) save at 48k since that's probably what your sequence is set for use QT Player to export in the right format and speed. FCP will leave pops in any audio it converts.

The thing is, I have thousands of royality free stuff and they were all mp3 and I converted them to aac thinking this is what fcp would want and it isn't. convert everything to aiff would take up so much space on my hd. mp3's will import but they never sound right.

Only convert the songs you need, or get a bigger HD. Sorry, those are the only 2 real ways to go.

I'd definetly go AIFF. I in fact partitioned my video drive to have a Music section.

I would totally go with AIFF files. Just hold onto all your files in AAC and then once you know you need one just convert it to AIFF. I have a separate AIFF folder that I store the stuff in. They are HUGE files, but if you only convert the ones you need, it shouldn't be too bad. And at worse, you can always just delete them once you are done with the project.
