im thinking about getting into shooting weddings but i have a question on the audio. I have seen posted that most people use a set of Lavalier on the groom and the preist but does anyone just use a shotgun instead. Are using Lavaliers really really important? i'm sure the answer is yes. What is the min. cost you would look at for a set of Lavalier for this propose? any input would be great. thanks.

I would say the lav would be the better pick in that situation.

maybe like 200 - 250 for a dual lav wireless with enough freq to work with would suffice.

invest in a good wireless system OR TWO. the is audio is a big part of why people want a videographer in the first place. sennheiser makes some good stuff that is affordable. evolution series easily picked up at evsonline.com

a shotgun is helpful, but if you are really serious about getting good audio, you will mic the musicians, also. a lot of people think you need a fabulous shotgun to shoot weddings. NOT. no one hires you because you have a nice shotgun mic and if you have it or not, few people really care..except the photographer, whose photos will inevitably have shots of a huge shotgun sneaking into all the pictures.
