Audio for interview/talking heads

Hi -

What is the best way to approach a single person interview/talking head. Additionally, I will occasionally have 2 or 3 people on screen as well.

Options:

1. Lavs - omni or cardiod. Note my environment is fairly noisy. Lots of computer fans, AC, even street noise and helicopters that land on the roof above me. Models to consider?

2. Shotgun - Sennheiser 416? Camera mounted or on a boom? Blimp with windscreen? Directly into camera? External recorder?

I spend way to much time in Pro Tools and have been WAY to aggressive with the denosieing software.

Any ideas would be great.

Yes - but it is a Mackie 1202. But I use it at the editor. I can get another mixer if needed.

Use a Sound Devices 302 w/ a couple of hardwired lavs. Come out the main left and right into the camera. If there is lots of computer noise, and the like, you're screwed. I just did a little shoot this weekend where we did interviews with people where computers were in the room, and they were noisy as hell. Nothing I could do about it.

you can use every normal mixwe and of course yours , mix the 2 to one channel and leave the 3rd to the other , if you have only 2 in shot , each one to different channel , keep the distance between the mikes at least 3 to 1 from the speaker mouth for less problems with fase issius
