audio file needs fixing

Well, it sounds like you recorded in a less than ideal room, but are you sure that's the camera mic? Unless you were right in the speakers face, I'd expect way more reverb in the camera mic.

Were you using a board feed or did you have another mic closer to the speaker?

i had a board feed wired on one channel and a lectrosonics wireless on the speaker. no matter which channel i turn on, i get that ambient sound

The reverb sounds very much like the PA system in the room was very loud and it was exciting the room. Or else the room was very live. I suspect that is how it sounded to the audience who heard it also, but the brain tends to automatically ignore room excitation like that. Microphones cannot apply the processing we take for granted from our ears and brain.

There is nothing you can do about that, either then or now. The voice of the talker sounds nice and close, so it wasn't the case that the microphone was too far away.

The left channel is recorded very low, -18dB. The right channel is quite clipped, but peaking at only -6. You did not identify which source is on which channel? In any case, it sounds like the same signal on both channels, so no joy in selecting one or the other to reduce the reverb.
