Audio falling out of Sync

Well, I recorded an event, bad camera audio, Luckily my trusty laptop had been recording all day, although, when I try to relay the audio, it is falling out of sync. I had Audio recorded with Sound studio at 44k on an iMac The audio on my edius is at 48, would that make a difference to the running speed of the audio track?

The Origional recording is an aiff file and was brought in to iTunes and exported to a cd so that I could get it from the iMac to the PC

Thanks for your help, , ,

Yes, the audio more than likely needs to be pulled down as it probably was captured at a 30 reference rather than 29.97. Make sure you convert the files to 48k, so there is no speed up from 44 to 48, and then pull down the 48k audio.

Since you weren't shooting film you should not need to speed up the audio to match picture and I assume you didn't use jammed TC and genlock so what your experiencing sounds like normal drift.

Every clock has a slightly different interpretation of 1 second (except the official atomic one). If you choose a point where you call two clocks synced and then start counting forward, the differences between the two clocks (one in your camera and one in your computer) will add cumulatively and ultimately add up to 1 frame and more over time.

Depending on the quality of the clocks in question you should be able to maintain sync within +-1 frame for about 10 minutes on the low end and about 40 to 60 minutes on the high end. You can simple re-sync the audio at your closest cut point. Time consuming but necessary in this case.

Good luck
