I posted this question in the FCP forum but I figure I would ask here too.
Is there a way maybe using one of the EQ's or effects either Apple or FCP HD to try to eliminate background noise? I have an interview that I shot and we used a stick mic which was right at the person's mouth but you can hear still hear a lot of noise in the background. The noise was from the event that I was shooting. I was wondering if I possibly imported the wrong channel of audio because listening to the raw audio on my external monitor sounds a little better than what I have sitting on the timeline but you still hear the background noise. I am not trying to eliminate all together just trying to do something to make it less noticeable and put the focus on the interview mic without peaking my levels. I have music playing underneath the sound byte so I have to watch my levels that they don't peak but I am trying to get rid of some of that background noise. It sounds like all 3 (main audio, music, and background noise is all competing with each other. I tried killing the music all together but then it makes the interview sound worse because of the background noise. I know now to use a directional mic next time instead of the omni directional.
