Audio Case/Bag

Hi All,

Thanks for all the recent help on the forum.

I have updated my audio kit and now have a RODE BLIMP 2. I have a calumet watertight case similar to Peli. However the blimp does not fit in there.

I have foam padding in the there I was thinking about getting rid of the foam padding and having dividers in there. But I was looking at a cheapish option Peli case dividers are coming up at like 70.00 GBP. I wanted some Trek Pak dividers ideally but they don't stock them in the UK Sadly,

Another option is maybe go for a petrol camera bag case and put the blimp and all my sound kit in there.

Below is the model of my case, any suggestions would be great.

I know this is kind of not what you're looking for, but have you considered maybe shortening the blimp? This is only if you trust your DIY skills, whatever they may be. I'm planning on doing this myself very soon with my first generation Rode Blimp. Damn things are huge.

Change to a 'Softie' wind shield to save space.... How often do you REALLY shoot in cyclone force wind?
Get some 'coreflute' sheeting as used in some signs, a sharp knife, some bent wire coat hangers and you have dividers.

I live/shoot in Sacramento. It is often windy. The Record softie does not do much to cut the wind noise, so, no, it doesn't take gale-force winds to make a mess of the sound.

David, great suggestion. As an old hand at plumbing installation, this is something that would be easy to do and provide excellent protection...

I have nothing to add, but I figured I'd at least show how my "shorten the blimp" idea works. It packs a littler easier this way!
