Audio capture issue...

I have been importing several tapes of footage that was NOT shot by me or with a DVX100 type camera. After every ingest of video, I get a message on the screen that says the audio capture in my settings does not match the audio capture on the source (tape) and that the audio could be out of sync. I am not ingesting any dialogue so I should be fine but I was curious to see if there is anything I could to match it up but couldn't locate where to even look. I my Capture settings match my Sequence settings for a 29.97 timeline. Firewire is set to NTSC Basic. So I am not sure why I am getting the messages.

Likely the camera was set to 12bit/32K mode rather than 16/48... for some reason, many consumer cams seem to default to this fairly useless setting (half the tapes brought to me by clients are set up this way). Regardless of the warning, it hasn't generally been a problem with sync... just unnecessarily crappier audio qualirty.

(As a brief rant and aside - I don't know if anyone in history EVER dubbed a second soundtrack onto their consumer miniDV camera using the 12-bit/4-track feature; but in the days of computer editing I'm sure noone's even considered it during the last 5 years. That this mode would ever be the DEFAULT is outrageous!)
