audio bus in FCP and MXO2

I am relatively new to apple and actually the MXO2 was one of the reasons why I chose final cut pro.

I have a request from a network to output a program on tape (deck is DVW250; software is FCP6 or FCP7 if it works).

The request is: "leave one audio-channel free for commentary and otherwise international audio".
I am in Europe, so maybe international audio differs on continents, too?

The program only includes atmosphere sound (the live-recording); there´s no voice-over or music done by me. I would like to include a sound from and to slow-motion though.

so does this mean I mute channel 1 and leave channels 2-4 untouched?
Do I have to set something up with MXO2 or is it all done in A/V settings. I usually have SDI out and "audio follows application".

Will MXO2 route the channels 1-4 like I set them in the software?

thanks and help appreciated

P.S.: haven´t got the deck yet, so can´t try it.

Well, what do they mean by INTERNATIONAL AUDIO? Does it mean a Stereo Mix on Ch 1 and 2, then Music and Effects only on Ch 3 and 4? That is typically what I deliver. Basically that means that they want normal audio for their broadcast, but then separate music and effects so that they can add translation audio for narration and sound bytes.

But then when I do that I also deliver a DA88 with completely separated audio. Separate audio for the music, effects, sound on tape, and narration. So that they can mix it later.

But then I also...currently...deliver an HDCAM SR tape with 9 tracks of Audio. CH 1 & 2 stereo mix, CH 3 & 4 M&E, CH 5 & 6 Music only, CH 7 Effects only, CH 8 sound on tape only, CH 9 Narration.

The MXO2 is capable of 8 channels of audio out via SDI...more via AES EBU. And you set up this audio path in FCP. Go into the Sequence Settings, click on the AUDIO tab, and switch from 2 channels of audio, to the amount you need. Then you can, there, chose if those tracks are to be stereo or dual mono. THen on the timeline, right-click on the audio channels...right on the number, and patch the audio where you want it to go.
