Audio boost needed!

I'm working with some footage at the moment that has some really low audio. Do any of you gurus have some suggestions as to how to squeeze as much sound out of these clips as possible.
Camera 1 had a shotgun mic plugged in but was to far away to sound descent.
cam 2 had the onboard mic on and is also low, but much better.
I also have Adobe Audition, but have rarely used it.
thanks

Right click on the audio portion of your clip (if it's in the timeline), and select Audio Gain. Hit the Normalize button. This will scan the clip, and find the maximum amount the audio can be boosted. The '0.0' will change to another number after a brief moment--I think a 12.0dB boost is the max you can get from this feature though. That will boost the audio you want--but will equally boost the noise and other extraneous sound as well. You should be able to at least get your dialogue to a decent level. You might still have to dump the clip into Audition though, and play with the various EQ filters. When mics are at any distance from the recorded subject, you lose presence, which is the quality that makes you "feel like you're there". You want be able to recover the audio fully, but it'll get you closer.

youll probably want to run a denoising filter along with a noise gate before and/or after you normalize the audio just to get rid of the noise that will be brought up as well.
