Audio artifacts in premiere pro 2.0

I've been using premiere for over a year now and once in a while when i put down an audio track it will occasionally click and pop. Usually it isnt too big of a problem and I don't mind, but now I'm working on a project that cannot have audio artifacts of any kind.

They are still there after I render and export. I have also tryed putting the files in different formats like wav, wma, and mp3, but all of them click.

What am I doing wrong?

Its a music collection from sound ideas....."The Mix XI broadcast music library"..something. In the package they have two sets of discs.....one of cds with mp3's and a set of dvds with the files as wavs. I have tried ripping the mp3 from the cd and directly copying the wav from the dvd and both have artifacts.

They sound fine when played in any other program though.

I am not a sound guy nor a premiere expert but I would try saving the file again as .wav file in one of the programs it works fine in. Maybe you could double check your timeline and make sure it is at 48k and your .wavs are at 48 not 44.

That sounds like it might be it....the 48/44k timeline thing. I'll let you know if it works.

Thanks for the help.

Well i tried changing the formats and upsampling from 44 to 48k but its still popping and clicking. I'm starting to think my disc drive is crap and it cant copy or rip anything cleanly.

Ive downloaded the mov of the song I need from sound ideas....the quality is lower but it doesnt click. I would convert the other files to mov as well but now i cant open then in audition without clicks either. The only thing that bothers me is that I've downloaded other mov files previously and inserted them into a timeline and have had them click and pop as well. It seems like its just luck when something doesnt mess up.

Quite a frustrating problem...i dunno. Does the bitrate have to be the same as well....or can it be different between 16 and 32?

Also...my hard drives are getting REALLY full. Could that have any effect on how premiere treats audio files? The only thing that makes me think it couldn't be that is that some files click and other dont.

Maybe you would have more luck asking this question on an adobe premiere forum, unless some audio guys pitch in here soon.

does the clicking and poping is in the same part in all the different formats you used?
if it is, then this could be because the audio level is too high.

before rendering preview the part where the clicks appear and check the "audio master meter" and when it goes to red then there should be some click and pop... make sure there are no more reds in al the project and thats it...
