Hi Guys,

I've just been asked to shoot a commercial for our local toyota dealer. I've been told there will be cuts to all the staff saying something in the ad. I think most will be recorded indoors. I haven't shot a commercial before so i need help with setting up my shotgun mic for this job. I don't have a boom pole unfortunately...only a mic stand. Any other general AUDIO tips for shooting ads would also be awesome. Thanks

Put a lav mic on them as well as a boom (at the same time).

Rent a Hyper Cardioid Octava, a Sennheiser 416, & a Sanken CS1, shotgun mic.

Rent a coupla of Tram lav mics - they actually go UNDER the clothes :thumbsup:

Put the lav on track 1 (panned hard left) put the shotgun on track 2 (panned hard right).

Put blankets on the floor.

Commercials are for people to listen to (to find out where to buy). If the audio sounds like they are in a bathroom then your audio will be the in toilet and listeners will tune out.

This is my motto and signature:

Great sound is half the picture!

It should be yours as well.

Pick which of the two tracks sounds tighter and more natural. You CAN mix some combination of them but it will drive you to drink.

Drink only when your done & remember;

Great sound is half the picture!
