Upcoming documentary about the story behind 2000AD. Promises to contain much more colourful language than you'll ever see in a Stan Lee interview.

I enjoyed the Dredd movie, it was a genuine effort of capturing the darker side but largely missed the humour. The mini-movie at the beginning of the Stallone version captured some of that but then he took his helmet off, a potent symbol of the production completely missing the point. Yet Dredd is really the least of 2000AD. So much to be mined there and so much better and more subversive than anything I've seen from Marvel/DC (noteable exception of Vertigo). Would love to see Slaine, Strontium Dogs, RoboHunter (we are in an 80s throwback phase in the cultural cycle), Rogue Trooper and others come to life in the right hands.
In a world that loves the Hulk, Conan, Guardians of the Galaxy it's not a great stretch to embrace these. And plenty of other far more interesting short run bones to pick, some with current relevance like Trashman Trask who as far as I know only got one serial (ahead of his time, maybe?). There's Luke Kirby as a darker grass roots Harry Potter. Durham Red has probably missed the vampire phase but there's plenty more serials to dig through.
While I wait in hope for some of those the documentary looks like fun.
