Attack the Block

Hearing that the Comic-Con screening made some faces melt.

Seriously... can't wait to get my third viewing in.

It's out in theaters, select cities though.

Going to go and see it tonight or tomorrow night. Anyone in LA, NY etc going to check it out?

whats up with all these aliens movies now, no more please.directors wiki page looks like if he wrote it himself.

Haha. It's a pretty good movie. In fact, best of the past two years for me. Hoping others get to check it out. <br> I'm going for a fourth watch soon, then can't wait for a Blu Ray.

Really enjoyed it. Funny, tense, great score (Carpenteresque even!), clever creature design.
Made for a perfect Friday night at the movies.

Allow it, indeed!

This film is not about aliens though, it's more of a take on stray youth and crime in London. It might be perceived differently outside England and Europe but for people living in London that was clear from the beginning. The alien creatures are just a side story really, I guess to draw the crowd in. The subject of the film is the situation of kids that feel alienated from British society and how they react to that.

FINALLY got around to seeing this on itunes. It was a lot of fun. I probably would have enjoyed it more had I seen it in a theater with a receptive crowd but it never screened up here. I loved that it just dove into the alien invasion story from the first scene. The creature designs were pretty cool and ingenious as well, allowing them not to have to make anything too detailed or complex, or have to rely on CGI. I wasn't 100 percent on board with the characters until about midway through, but I think that had more to do with me not understanding what the hell they were talking about half the time. The arc of Moses is interesting though and the way it ties in with the aliens life cycle is pretty smart. All in all I don't think I liked it more than Shaun of the Dead, which it shares some DNA with, but it's a solid piece of entertainment. Definitely a more well rounded film than Super 8, and it more successfully evokes the vibe of 80's films like Gremlins and Critters while updating it. Kind of sad that it's only made 5 million worldwide, not even half its budget.

Glad you got to check it, Batutta. It's crazy, though, right? Super 8 banks and a solid piece like ATB technically tanks... I guess that's why they're trying to remake it stateside, to throw some "well known" actors in it and put the ol' US twist on the material.

I'm glad people are watching it, though. Still remains tops for me, along with DRIVE.

I think I'mma watch this again tonight.

I think the difficult to understand accents and slang probably made it tougher to find a regular US audience, and the sad reality is that black faces don't really sell internationally, unless they are megastars like Will Smith.
