Attaching a silk or muslin to 4x4 frame?

I just picked up a couple of nice 4x4 frames cheap. I cleaned them up and now I want to take the silk and muslin that I have and stretch it on the frames. The problem is that I have never seen one of these in use and I have no idea how to attach it.

What is the most common way to attach a 4x4 silk to a frame?

I could tape but that seems a bit messy for the ones that I want permanently mounted.

Thanks in advance.

most common is using grommets in the silk / muslin and tying it to the frame - if you want them permanent, you can sew rod pockets into the edges and thread your frame rods through those. Always nice to be able to compact either further, so I use something I can break down.

There are two ways to do this. If the silk is sewed onto the frame, then you have to use a heavy canvas/nylon strapping type material that folds over the edge of the frame and then the silk is sewed between the strapping. Or, you can sew the strapping straight onto the silk and then put grommets into the strapping and just use strings to tie it onto the frame (this is the method used by 8x8 frames and bigger.)
