Attaching a ring light to a matte box

Hello,

I'm planning to buy a Red Rock Mattebox but I'd also like to purchase a ring light. I have my eye on the Kino Flo Kamio 6e. It's designed to attach to the ring on the front of the lens but I'd like to attach it directly to the front of my matte box, whilst maintaining the matte box's fold-out function. Has anyone attempted to attach a ring light to a matte box? (Sure, I know the Kino Flo 6 comes with a matte box but I'd rather not buy a half-decent matte box from Kino Flo when I can buy a great matte box from Red Rock for less money!)

Also, I'm considering my options for building a home-brew ring light built on top of the Red Rock matte box.
