Atonement...

got robbed.

I just saw "There Will Be Blood" and "Atonement" all within a few day period and with respect to cinematography there was NO comparison. I felt "There Will Be Blood" was a fantastic movie with a crisp, clear specific look but Atonement was downright beautiful.

I was shocked to learn after I watched both of these movies that "Atonement" did not win for best cinematography. Sorry if this has been brought up before but I just had to vent...

its strange yes but there will be blood i think is amazing you have super long shots then close ups where faces become canvas'. plus i think alot of it was done with natural means.

Someone once said, "It's not a cinematographer's job to make beautiful images, only necessary ones." Not sure what it means exactly but it sounds right.

i mean if you look at there will be blood. Daniel day lewis is a landscape the movie is his face 80 of the film. key example the church scene.
