Atem Mnin Help - Can't Stream to YouTube

Hello,

I am using an ATEM Mini and trying to get YouTube Live streaming to work on my Dell laptop. I use Zoom without any issues but when I try to start a live stream on my YouTube channel I get a message "Camera can not be accessed because its being used by another application.

I have tried:
- disabling firewall
- allowing apps to use my camera
- allowing YouTube permission in Chrome and Firefox
- Windows Update
- Zoom is not running
- Uninstalled Skype
- If I unplug the Mini, it works with my internal webcam

Anybody know what is going on here? I watch videos where people just go live on YouTube with the Mini. It seems that YouTube wants to use the internal webcam and can not find it, so it will not let you choose another source. I would really appreciate it if anybody could test this on their system as it seems YouTube's studio is a rather new implementation. I have a job on Saturday that I need this to work on. Thanks for your help!

What streaming app are you using to stream to Youtube? Have you successfully done this with the internal camera without the ATEM mini? The Mini replaces your internal camera and looks like an external camera to streaming software.
To stream to Youtube you have to set up an RTMP protocol link to your Youtube account from a streaming app or a hardware streaming device via Ethernet. Then you will need to select the ATEM mini as your camera input to the streaming app, not your internal camera.
If you have not done this before, you have to get clearance from Youtube to use that feature on your account.

I had a similar problem. I was doing a Facebook live stream to a laptop connected to video camera via HDMI Magewell. Facebook would not recognize the camera while OBS would. I could have used OBS but ended up using a Mac book that worked without issue. I recently tried recording a Zoom with my Atomos. Video would capture but no audio, but again it worked on my mac.

Two observations:
1. HDCP (HDMI's anti copying encryption) can block devices it doesn't recognize. Windows is more susceptible to this. This is why the pros use SDI instead of being subject to the whims of HDMI.
2. Software involved in the stream ie zoom, facebook, youtube can also not recognize the device. OBS seems to be a more reliable software, but a little more work setting up the RTMP.

If you are using something other than Zoom or Skype as your streaming app, then you have to manually set up the links between the mini as camera input, the software, and YouTube the first time. It isn't plug and play. OBS is fine for this. It's been awhile since I've done this, but IIRC you have to setup the YouTube link in your account first Youtube will assign you an RTMP key that you will need to enter in the streaming app to link up. Once you have it set, from then on it is plug and play. Go to your Youtube account and follow their instructions for setting up a livestream account.
Below is a picture of the streaming settings for a YouTube account in OBS. The ATEM Mini would be setup as an input scene in OBS.

Thanks for your replies. I spoke with Blackmagic Design and they told me that YouTube should recognize the Atem as a webcam. The tech was surprised that it was not working. I asked them if they could test this as obviously it is not working that way. He said he would e-mail tomorrow with results. I will be surprised if I hear back from him.

I got it to work via OBS but OBS is one more link in the chain. I would rather have it recognized directly like it does with Zoom. Plug it in and go. This is a football game I thought it would be better over my YouTube channel than Zoom. Will update if I find out anything more.
