AT897 or NTG-1-2

Is there a general consensus among all you audiophiles out there between the NTG-1(2) and the AT897 when it comes to sound quality and performance. I am hoping to purchase one of these in the next few days. Thanks in advance!

Both of them are pretty good bang for buck microphones. You can listen to them here

Are you going to be putting it on a boom pole ?

If so we have a killer location sound package on the NTG-2.

I actually like the NTG-1 better for on-camera, since it is shorter because it does not have the ability to take an AA battery for self-powering. So you'll need phantom power for the NTG-1.

Boom pole will probably be the most common use, but occasionally it might be camera mounted. Based solely on sound quality and pickup then they are pretty even?
