AT4053 - not 4053a or 4053b - Just AT4053

I thought the 4053 was a hypercardioid, but I was just told it was a cardiod. Can someone confirm please? It doesn't have an a or b after it. I think it is an older mic and I couldn't find much while searching. Thanks!
 
You can have either the hypercardioid, cardioid or omni capsule. The one you are looking at may have a cardioid capsule on it.

Is there a polar pattern shape printed on the capsule/mic?
 
The AT4053b consists of two modular subassemblies: an AT4900b-48 body and an AT4053b-EL hypercardioid head capsule (both available separately). Additional interchangeable capsules are available in omnidirectional (AT4049b-EL) and cardioid (AT4051b-EL).
