AT 1800 Receiver external power

I want to power my Audio Technica 1800 receiver using d-tap from a V-lock batter 14.8 volt. The receiver states that it will take nominal 12 volts. With professional equipment this usually means it can take more but I don't know how much more. Has anyone used this receiver with external power? Any ideas?
 
Give AT a call. They were helpful when I had an issue with the 100 series.. of course this was a few years ago and I talked to the techs in Ohio USA.
