Aspect Ration messes up

I import video, drop into the 'make new comp' button.

When it's exported, it always looks stretched. I toggle the aspect ration correction button and it also shows streched look. How can I stop this?

Oh, okay so I changed the comp setting to square pixels, problem solved, except now I get black bars on the side

interpret your footage to use the correct aspect ratio by right cliking on it in the prject bin and selecting "interpret footage" then select the footage elements proper pixel aspect ratio for display. make sure that PAR correction is turned on for your Ae monitor window, and you need to change you comp back to the proper PAR as well if it is now incorrect using square pixels.
