Panic time for me. I feel like I've done this a hundred times and suddenly I can't fix the problem! The short version:
...HVX200 footage (720/24 and some 60fps) edited in FCP 6.0, export using the 720p24 setting in Compressor. Makes a gorgeous looking quicktime file that I then drag into iDVD choosing the 16:9 aspect ratio when promted. But when I preview it, the file is squished into a 4:3 aspect ratio. Burned a few just to be sure and it's not just the review...they're squished when I play the dvd too.
Any ideas to get it to encode and play at the proper aspect ratio? Thanks.
UPDATE:
I exported the sequence using the Quicktime Movie option instead of Compressor. In the settings options I chose DVCPRO HD 50 720p/24. It quickly created a QT file of the same size as my previous attempts through Compressor. The resolution looked identical too. I imported it into iDVD, burned a disk, and it plays perfectly, displaying the movie in the correct aspect ratio. Not sure what, if any, difference there is between the 720p/24 setting in QT and Compressor, but only the QT exported file worked in iDVD.
