Aspect ratio problem!

I shot my movie with native 16x9 on the canon xl2 and the dp for some reason or so how shot a few scenes in 4x3. I had to scale it to stretch it out but when I burn it to dvd the 16x9 is letterboxed and the rest isn't so I'm know I can just crop a letter boxed image.

But is there another way of doing this! The last I want to do is show a film and watching it on a wide screen tv and the letter box still shows b/c of me cropping the image.

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Frustration!

Which editing, compression and authoring programs are you using?

Export as 16:9 and do the compression/burning as 16:9 and you shouldn't have a problem. It sounds like somewhere in the process you are introducing the 4:3 aspect ratio.

Fu-Pow Now The export is fine to be more specific we used xl2 native 16x9 all the footage with 16x9 is fine but however we shot a week later and the camera was a rental so someone change it back to 4x3 the dp didn't know that and shot some scenes in 4x3 before realizing it wasn't 16x9 when I export it the 4x3 isn't letter boxed.

Only the 16x9 is how can I cange it in pre pro. I already transformed it and stretched it out so it will fill the picture but it doens't have the letter box I was just thinking about adding a matte letter box and hopefully that will fix the problem
