Aspect Ratio issues...Noob question, but I really need to know

Hey Guys,

OK, I shot footage on the HVX200 at 1080 24p. I had an editor import it into FCP 5.1.4 in a 1280x1080 timeline. Looks fine. Why? Isn't HD footage 1920x1080??
or 1440??

The worst part and I've asked the question here before but nothing is really working, is exporting Targas Sequences that are HD in FCP. There are squished into 4:3. I'm using "current settings" and everything is ok, why aren't the image sequences. I heard it was a bug and I should try using quicktime pro after the FCP export to uncompressed video. This did half the footage in images fine and squished the second half. This has been killing me for a week and I am at my wits end here.

Pleeese, any help would be greatly appreciated,

M

Thanks Noah. But, the screen width across is much more than that when you look at it. Sorry, just wondering why. It doesn't add up after export when it's 1920x1080. Does it use something like squeeze in the DVX100?

Also anybody export image sequences in HD in FCP...Nothing works. Graphics guys that use Maya have no idea how to work with HVX exports via FCP still...what to do??

Thx

OK that explains that. Kinda.

But my main question here is the still image sequence problem. Have you ever successfully exported 1080 24p footage from FCP, (TGA) and had it look proper and not 4:3. No one can seem to answer this anywhere. I would see this as being a major problem for FCP and the HVX200 if it is not capable of outputting to most graphic applications.

I've been told to use quicktime Pro but that does that same thing.

I would understand if the footage was not right in the timeline, but it is fine and outputs in "current settings" QT format fine. Just not image seq's.
