aspect ratio change on still frame export.

I am exporting stills (quicktime conversion) from FCP and it is exporting squeezed 960 x 720? the project is being edited 16 x 9. How do I get stills 16x9? Thanks.

I have the latest version 6.04

edit: so the sequence setting's aspect ratio is HD (960 x720) (16:9). so it is exporting accurately I guess, but how do I make the still 16:9 in FCP? I know have been able to do this in the past.

Jim, I am not so sure that you will be able to do this. You have to change the pixel aspect ratio, which is not an option in Quicktime conversion. I have always had to export my DVCPRO-HD stills and then open them in Photoshop, change the pixel aspect ratio, and then save as a new file.

Of course, I would be happy to be wrong since it would save some work... But I just checked it out again and I can't find any way to do it in FCP.

Thanks Will,

Hmmm, I just checked and I was somehow able to export 1280 x 720 stills for my last film. I only had iphoto then and they are sitting still there. Both then and now it is dvcpro-hd.

When using compressor or quicktime conversion to make a quicktime movie you can change the aspect ratio, I thought there was a way to do it for stills?

umm how about opening the xported file in quicktime pro and then pressing command + j and clicking video track and changing pixel size there and deselecting preserve aspect ratio and then re-saving it?
