I read somewhere, after they brought out the wall to cover him up, they had to shoot him to end his suffering. They stopped the video just before the gun shot.

Also, I think the announcers audio was recorded (she was lip-synching) because she didn't react to the accident. She just kept on giving the sales pitch even when the lights went down. Here's a rough translation:

VO: Asimo will now climb these stairs to show he is super great!
ASIMO: Here I go..... [tumble]
VO: There isn't anything Asimo can't do.
ASIMO: Owww.... I've fallen ...and I can't get up.
VO: Asimo is the most avanced robot on the planet.
ASIMO: Wait! What are you doing with that gun?
VO: Asimo will now dance for us. Dance happy robot. Dance!
ASIMO: Put it down! Noooooo!!!! [gun shot]
