Artifacts!

shot some footage on dvx100b, scene file 5. Tape playback looks fine, but when I look at the capture (fcp 5.1.4), there are artifacts (digitizing) in ONE area on the subject: along the front line of her black sweater where it meets her red shirt. Anyone have any clue what's happening and how to fix it?
Thanks

I would suspect that there is something in your playback settings (or simply the fact that you are looking at your footage on your computer monitor) that is causing the artifacting, rather than anything in your captured footage, as capture simply transfers the information from your camera and does not digitize. Have you viewed your captured footage on an external monitor to see what it looks like? Also, check to see that the resolution of your Viewer in FCP is set to 100% (although the only sure way to check is an external monitor). Finally, make sure your capture settings match the footage as shot.

I would not run the denoise or any other filter on the footage. Doing so would result in another layer of processing the footage, possibly adding artifacts. You should not have to use a filter to solve this problem.

thanks, kwoff,
I did a print to tape of some of the footage and viewed it on ext monitor and it looked fine. HOPEFULLY that solved the problem
