Hi,
I am getting some crazy arifacts with my new GH1 as can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TW7_uvONpDQ

This is a short section within the clip. ISO 800, 60 FPS
My PC is a new quad core i7 with 12 GB of RAM.

Now whats strange is I get different levels of artifacts. Here is what I have tried:
1. WMP - no artifacts on teh MTS file
2. Vegas 'Project Media' preview - almost none, just a few milliseconds of 'strobing'
3. Vegas trimmer - same as above
4. Vegas timline 'video review' - a bit more. Some of extreme angled banding you can see in the clip
5. Rendered WMV - pretty bad but not quite as bad as the clip
6. Rendered AVI - terrible, as you can see in the clip.

Any ideas?

First of all, which Vegas? Vegas 9 has better support for h.264.

Then, there's the whole issue of how you export, and how you setup the project. Have a look here to how to set it up and there's a link about how to export: http://eugenia.gnomefiles.org/2008/12/19/sony-vegas-hints-and-tips/
Do you see a difference if you change the project to 32bit rendering?

Also, when you said "AVI", which codec exactly? AVI and MOV are just containers, not video formats.

Vegas 9c, 64 bit.

It has the artifacts regardless of the rendering - they just get worse with the rendering, so it's a problem before I even hit the rendering stage.

Haven't tried 32 bit, I'll give that a whirl.

I can't remember the AVI specifics, I usually render to WMV but thought I would try another codec.
