The article does not mention the sequence setting. I would assume that would still be 23.98, correct? My capture settings are indeed at 29.97, with the 'Advanced Pulldown' removal box checked, my sequence settings are at 23.98 and when my footage is dropped in, it does not need rendering. Also when I view the clip info it lists it at 23.98.
Is this correct per the article? Or is he saying something different?
So far all seems good. Would be interesting to see I've been doing it 'wrong'.

Yes you're doing it correct. FCP has presets that makes most of this fairly transparent if you knwo what mode you're shooting in.
