Arrrrrrgh 5/8" to 3/8" adapter?!

Okay so in ordering 2302039875 items for my trip to Ecuador, I forgot one thing: a 5/8" female to 3/8" male adapter to attach my cheap Markertek fishpole to my K-tek mic mount.

And it's too late to order since I'm leaving Thursday. Before I start calling Home Depot/Radio Shack/Guitar Center etc., does anyone KNOW of a chain store that I can find one of these things?! You'll save my arse. Thanks,

Ackk! I had the same thing happen to me on a shoot--I ended up gaffer taping the shock mount to the boom. You've got enough time for a better solution. Good luck finding that exact fitting--it won't be easy. I'd recommend taking your boom pole and shock mount to a *good* hardware store and I'm sure they can rig up something decent for you.

Offhand, I'd get a 3" 5/8 bolt, a couple of nuts, and a flexible metal hose clamp (the kind with a screw to tighten). I'd clamp the bolt to the end of your boom pole with the hose clamp, screw one nut on as a backstop, screw on your shock mount, and screw on the other nut to hold it in place. Then wrap some gaffer's tape around the fitting. Not elegant and I'm sure you can do better, but at the very least you can have a secure rig. Good luck.

I got a call that my Miller SOLO DV sticks shipped a week ago, and then I got a call today that they didn't ship after all. I'm leaving tommorrow. Rock, me, hard place.

So, put in a call to my local rental company and am renting some Libec sticks (which I hate), but I also had them throw in a boom with 3/8" threading. Problem solved.

Regardless, I appreciate your help (and the other Barry's) on this, and other, matters. I'm lovin it! Thanks.
