Arri16S.com going away Feb. 8th

It's with a bit of sadness and nostalgia that I announce the end of the Arri16S.com web site I have been running for the last four years. We had alot of fun with it, gathering all the information, film clips, bits and pieces, and cool Arriflex 16S cameras and accessories.

Unfortunately, with the rise of inexpensive HD digital video, the call for 16mm cameras (and service to those 16mm cameras) has just dried up. The site went from over 2000 hits per month to less than 40 hits per day. So I'm shutting it down when it's domain expires on February 8th.

Please visit the site and download any information, video clips, pictures, user manuals, etc. that you'd like to keep before that date.

Too bad it's shutting down. I myself use a Bolex Reflex camera and heard many people are buying up and converting them to Ultra16mm format. The resurgence of 16mm is alive and well for those who buy eclair, bolex, and scoopics and convert to ultra16mm format. Perhaps you should expand your site to include those cameras as well.

Well, it's Back.

Too many folks were having a problem finding the mirror site, so I repurchased the original domain name and piggybacked it on another web hosting plan.

So you can once again find everything at:

Arri16S.com

That was a great article. Exactly the same story here...I sold all of my film cameras and equipment several years ago...except 2 pieces: I still have my Arri 2C camera and my Spectra light meter. I still make guests look over and hold the old Arri.
Ah, the memories.

I am glad to see that film is still hanging on despite being outnumbered by all the digital cameras haha

Timmyjoe, maybe you can put videos to Archive.org? That site keeps originals and you can generate direct links to large .mov files
