Arri replacemnt parts from hardware store?

I have a Arri 650w Plus Fresnel that needs repair. There are just a couple common pieces that I need & I don't want to order the entire replacement kit packages ($34 for a new switch, when all I need is two terminals that cost less than a $1 each).

Anyone know if is it possible to order just the crimp terminals that come with the "In-line switch" L4.77157.E & just one screw from the "Reflector" L4.79441.E?

Does anyone know size / name of these parts that I can get from a hardware store?

Or am I left to fend for my own in the aisles of the hardware store?

Home Depot has those crimp terminals. The blue ones are indeed 14-16 AWG, their size and compatibility does not change in any other way.

Looks like the crimp terminals are 14-16 gauge, 1/4" (0.25") female. Sometimes called Faston.

Can anyone chime in if they think I'm making a bad guess?

Agreed. Common and easy to obtain. Get the cheap version of the crimper from Harbor Freight. Color coded (see the blue dot) http://www.harborfreight.com/ratcheting-crimping-tool-97420.html.

Can't tell about the screw. Take it out and take a picture of it. My guess is it is a common sheet metal screw. You can probably go to any decent hardware store and they will find a replacement.

Thanks!

Thanks to you too!

Really serious first world problem.

Agreed, not really the worst thing in the world, but I think I've only really found exactly the part I need once before & that was for a Varizoom controller. 10-32 Knurled Nut Brass. Exactly what I needed.

Every other time there are always compromises when getting parts from the hardware store. Either something it too long, too short, wrong type of head...

I know from repairing other Arri heads the ring terminal isn't standard (as far as I can tell). When the wire gauge is correct, the ring is too small & won't fit over the bolt. When the ring is correct, the gauge is too big & doesn't crimp onto the wire.

If I know the exact thing I need, then I can call ahead, or ask / look for that specific item. Other wise, it is a first world problem of spending 30-60min going through every peg & drawer in the hardware store, trying to figure out what the best guess is that might work, or what I can modify to make work.

Honestly it's best if you just take one of those other screws and then cut off the crimp terminal and take them both to the hardware store. Go to a good one that will actually help you, show them those items and just say you want two more exactly like them. They'll help you and we won't be guessing!
