I'm starting to get my collection of 35mm lenses together, for my M2 adapter. What are the most important lenses to have besides 50mm? I'm leaning towards Arri/Zeiss and Cooke Lenses, any reason I shouldn't?

Not that I know of, price is always a factor. Some focal lengths to consider, 17, 28, 35, 135, 200mm are all useful.
 
What do you think for Zoom lenses, and for Telephoto Lenses? What range is the most needed Zoom? and how big is too big for a telephoto?
 
if i had to pick 2 lenses i would go with a 27 and a 50...

if i could pick 3 lenses i would add a 21...

if your going to go with zooms...i would say something around a 17-40...and a 75-200 like tc says....a 50 for CU's.

Err. that wasnt a joke.. you're looking at like 80 grand worth of lenses there.
Thats more than some rental houses have :)
 
What exactly are you planning here? You're looking a some serious glass and
easily 25K a year to maintain it... but you're hanging out in a place where
we're discussing cameras that cost less than the periodic service on one of
those zooms :)
 
I was just joking about the 80k remark,...... I am going to rent them, when I need them. The T1.3 go for 75 bucks a day, T1.9 150.... and then the zooms vary.

Don't you think the Zeiss 180mm T 3.0 is kind of repeatative since you have a 180 T1.9 and if you need T3.0, the HAWK Zoom falls pretty close.

I'd grab the 18, 35 and 85 and be done with it. I've got PL mount distagons
in my personal kit and I've only rented once and was anamorphics.
 
For a basic kit, I guess I´d be happy with a 18, 25, 35, 50 and 85 set. Maybe something longer too, in the means of a 105 or 135.
 
How much do the [SIZE=-1]ARRI/Zeiss Master Primes cost? I can't find that info anywhere. I know its in the thousands per lens but where would you buy one if you had to?
