Arri L-Series

They are listed on the B&H site now, with a notation, "approx. arrival November." Take it for what it's worth ... usually not too far off with Arri and B&H.

220W only?
Is that the actual wattage, its equivalent to the standard tungsten Arri's?

Looking at wattage in terms of output for anything but tungsten and HMI's is sort of useless. The parabeam and a 4x4 kino flo have the same exact wattages, but vastly different output. Look for photometrics for the light, that'll tell you more than anything.

They seem to be comparing them to the 1K tungsten fresnels. That's all I could find. Although that would mean they are getting 125 lumens per watt.

I'm excited to test the Arri L-Series, but am not sold on LED.

I'm hoping to embrace plasma lighting instead, but would love to see Helio 270 LEP before investing in the more expensive Hive, or Nova, lights.

The way the Hornet lights stack is alluring.

Ive tested out a few of them and they're pretty good light quality and pretty versatile. Coolest feature to me was the fact that you can dial in a colour temperature and hue, you can do some pretty amazing light effects and exact colour control for changing lighting conditions. Plus the output reminds me a little more of a fresnel than an led. But yeah, price is hefty, so most people will be renting them I think, but if
You own a production company or rental house I'd be looking at them for sure.

Pulling this thread back up! 6 months have past and non of my regular hang outs have any real reviews or battle test info on these ARRI L7 fresnels... I want to hear! Are they as good as you thought they'd be? Are they a true substitute for HMIs?

ARRI themselves put the output at the equivalent of a 1000w tungsten, how does that hold up?

I'm not daunted by the price if they are able to present quality light in that low power consumption package.

If you were to buy these yourself, would you go straight for the C model for the ability to dial in color? Or would you stick to daylight and save a few bucks?

That wasnt really a review as much as a sales talk.... Withvall due respect.
I think it would be more sensible to match up the L7 series against other lamps instead of just writing that t you think its better than the rest. Especially since there are lamps that are way more powerful than the L7 on paper....

Im really missing a real world comparison and review against fx De Sisti.
