Arri Kits Question???

I was thinking about buying a 3 light Arri Kit but was unsure on the combination of lights I should get. I wanted to get 3 fresnel lights but was wondering on the wattage combination I should get. For instance should I get:

3 - 650W
or
1 - 150W
1 - 300W
1 - 650W
or
2-650W
1-300W

You guys get the hint. I might add one more light at a later date but for now this is what I'm going to get. What are your recommendations?

It depends on what you will primarily be lighting. As a primary light the 650 is all around universal or even a 1k. I wouldn't suggest the 1100w kit, I had one and I wasn't satisfied because the lack of light I required on my shoots. I would go with the 3-650's package. I have one, there is enough wattage to most of what you want, again a series of 650s gives you enough light, and if you ever need less light, thats what scrims and opels are for.

If your budget only allowed for these two choices, I too would go for the 3-650's....Scrims come with your kit, but I would also invest in a softbox w/speed ring for your 650, a couple of dimmers and like mentioned ,some Opal diffusion.
Later on you can get some mafor clamps, to attach lights in odd or difficult places for light stands, other colored gels, of course more replacement bulbs....

Good advice. Easy to calm light down, but if you dont have enough theres nothing you can do.

I also have a couple of cheap photo floods in my kit - 100/250 and 500watt. I can get them in difficult places, control them easy with some barn doors/diffusion/gels. They are cheap. So adding a couple is useful. Especially for tight interiors. Yesterday I bought a cheap practical, found a small screw in photo flood, kind of has a frosted glass tube covering the light, can drop in anything, more diffusion/gels cut to size and you cant tell they are there. But even for a nice softlight thats small in my kit this thing works nicely. Be creative. But those 650s are a good base to start with, I love mine.

Another thing I love about the 650s is that you can lamp them down to 300w if you need to. I've got an assortment of bulbs for mine. It's an extremely versatile light.

Tried a 150?

I haven't. I've meant to, but I've always ended up grabbing cheap Mini Moles instead.

Sorry for the hijack. Got a link to where you buy from... I cant find much of anything here in Japan :S
