Arm for hanging lights

I recently ordered an Avenger 14'9" c-stand. I'd like to get an extension arm that would allow me to extend the light horizontally aprox 3' from the stand, so I could point the light down on an object (think film noir street light). All the arms I see on B&H indicate you can attach a light-weight light. I'm using a 1000w britetek light. I'm worried the light will be too heavy. Are there any arms for c-stands that are more durable? I can't seem to find anything suitable.

Thanks!

At that point it's not so much the arm itself you'll have to worry about, but the strength of the grip head holding it. At 3' out that's a lot of pressure to put on a head.

Most grip arm's are only 40" or so in length.
You could possibly go to home depot or some other place and buy some tubing in the proper diameter to fit into a grip head. If you go that route I would suggest getting something a bit longer than 3 feet long, perhaps 4 feet or so - and then leaving 1 foot hanging out of the other side, giving you a place to hang some counter weights to offset the pressure on the grip head.

Just make sure you properly secure the bottom of that stand with sand bags.
Otherwise it may easily tip over.
