Hello,

Editing in ae 7.0 pro. The composition is only 720x480, 24p yet it plays prerendered preview on the timeline at less than 12fps. I thought my new computer would be able to.

Specs:
XP pro 64bit
Intel quad-core Q6600
OC'd BFG 8800GT 512mb
4x1 gig corsair dominator pc2-8500 ddr2 (or something like that)

Any possible reasons? Maybe the answers are in the preferences.

By saying "prerendered preview" I assume you mean RAM preview. Yeah, your hardware should easily handle that comp size. Check the time controls settings - there's an option to skip frames, make sure it's set to 0.

It is, it's definitely not skipping frames, just playing slowly.

Make sure you aren't running too many programs at the same time when you're doing a RAM preview. The more RAM that AE can use, the better your performance will be. You can also allocate more RAM to AE in the preferences.

With just AE open, maximum memory usage: 3.8gb
