Are there pulley driven dollys for slow controlled pushins?

Hello,
Years ago, I saw a camera dolly during a movie featurette that was doing a slow pushin, and the operator was making it creep forward by turning a small crank wheel (about 3in. in diameter) The camera was a large Panavision 35mm, but I was wondering if there are gear driven dollys for smaller rigs, such as an 6ft. camera slider?
Thanks - Craig

The pocket dolly, the Philip Bloom pocketdolly and the cineslider have them!

Cineslider comes in a 5ft Variation and has a crank! It can take up to 36KG or upto 80 pounds!

I checked it out and that is very cool! I just think a crank like that would afford more control for a slow push than the basic slider. I'm thinking I could use a slider like that (or perhaps a longer one) for a whole feature. It would be a lot cheaper and easier than renting a full sized dolly and track and having to assemble and move track all the time.

Oh, and I watched your "London in 1 Minute" - very impressive!

Thanks again - Craig

The cranker on the kessler pd is ok, but it is difficult to do it silky smooth. You can push it just as well and get good results. The crank has a groove in it to wrap twine and pull on that, which works better for me. In the big picture, the Kessler PD belt system was designed for a motor drive which I haven't tried but looks great in the Kessler site videos. The same motors and controllers can be used on a variety of larger kessler products like the Cineslider and a trolly made to run on the Kessler Crane rails.

Thanks Grant. I'm thinking I could get most everything shot with a 6-8 footer. Rental rates should be reasonable, but I haven't checked out all the different brands. Of course, I'm quite a ways off from shooting, but it pays to plan ahead.

Kessler stuff is a great value relatively. Note that if you intend to use a crane or anything large like a cineslider, you will need a heavy tripod like a KPod to go with it.
