Being a moderator around here is not necessarily an easy task. One group of users would like this board to be totally unmoderated and be able to discuss political and sexual topics. Another group would like strict moderation. We try to find a line somewhere in between, where the board runs smoothly and the least number of folks are complaining. As it is, I take actions more than I'd like to. By nature, the Cafe is pretty freewheeling and the mods can't read every post. If anyone has an issue about posts (including mod posts) please send a message to one of the mods. We're all pretty reasonable.
I try to take action when I see something that violates the spirit of the board including political posts, racism, crude sexual language, and personal attacks. Some of this stuff is obvious, but there is also a gray area and unless we get draconian, there will be some posts that may offend some users.
The Danny Boyle post has (hopefully) served its purpose. A user that was causing serious disruptions will hopefully behave in a reasonable manner. If not, he'll be gone.

I think the firestorm I'm seeing here was generated by simple enough reasons. sombody made reference to the fact that females had left the board(not taken as gospel by me) because of lude remarks by Master boyle, Who'm we know is a problem anyway, Another member took offense to the imaturity level of the master boyle thread and suggested it was not properly reffed by the mods. I see only once again this little fellow has succeded in raising holy hell where none should exist. He is but a child and will probably end up getting himself banned in time. I do think this is being given way too much attention....Let's let it go

This was funny...John reminded me of an old teacher I had in boarding shcool who would invariably throw open the door to a room where us boys had been goofing off, flick on the light and ask

whatever anyone thought..I was not "offended" by the reference. I just thought it was really GROSS..probably the most vomit-inducing thought I've read here. I just read it. Pucked for a second. Opened my eyes, and kept on joyfully reading. Had I been totally new to the site, I would have been turned off in a big way.
I actually like the relatively light hand on the "moderating" in the cafe. Geezzz..if it were more, it wouldn't be as fun or funny?!!

Nah Pooh It brewed a long time ago, Pookie and I were just having a spot of tea and hashing over days events. There should be a clean cup aruond here someplace

Burnaby...Overlooking sunny Metrotown mall, Vancouvers answer to west edmonton mall. Speaking of which, I tried to shoot some video in there a while back in metrotown and was immediately surrounded by a gaggle of mean looking security people. The upshot of it all was you can't shoot video in the mall because You could be capturing someones store layout so as to copy it and have the same success...Or so they told me. Man I remember In west edmonton mall, shot 90% of my footage there with my first cam ever, and no one said a word.

Yep, the base is still going strong, WestJet even flies out of here, and the cadet's.
I think we're pretty much killed this thread off now, better lock up the igloo before the polar bears come by looking for the penguins (a little jab to those who think thats how us Canuks spend our time, eh)
