Archormat Specifications

Hey,

I have recently had the problem of getting a good achromat too.

I'd just invest in a decent on straight off, I've had macros and acrhomats from ebay and they're of terrible quality.

I ended up buying the sgpro achromat which came to £96 with shipping. There's a video on vimeo shot on the achromat and they seem to be of a very high quality.

When the achromat arrives ill shoot some tests and find out what the focal length is. Wayne might be able to tell you though.

As for focal length I guess the shorter the better. It's simply how far away you'll need your focusing screen from the lens. My +10 macro ended up been 114mm if I remember correctly, but had terrible distortion.

Are you talking about using a bare achromat on the camera? If so, here's an untouched clip from the HVX200 using just our non-flip achromat: http://cinevate.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2626

One of our guys Nick was playing around with the HVX200 as part of a student project (mostly handheld) but came up with some very cool shots. The best of that was not posted but involves close up footage of the human eye iris. You could actually discern the ligaments in the eye doing their thing. We have two different achromats, the flip and non-flip...but both are exceptional in terms of their CA and SA properties.

Cheers,
Dennis.
